The Commerce HEAR page carries a dated status line: "Current update (6/12/2026): Save Energy Minnesota has not launched yet. Minnesota is waiting for formal approval from US Department of Energy (DOE) to launch the program. There is no estimated program launch date." It adds that "DOE recently issued new program rules and requirements that change how the HEAR & HOMES rebates will work in Minnesota." Commerce's published timeline shows DOE approved and awarded HEAR funds in late 2024, partially approved HOMES without awarding funds, and that Commerce submitted all pre-launch documents in September 2025. Commerce warns that federal guidelines do not allow retroactive rebates for items purchased before program launch. DOE's allocation table lists $74,459,590 (HOMES) and $74,027,440 (HEAR).

Can I still get a federal tax credit in Minnesota?
No. 25C and 25D were both repealed by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Anything installed in Minnesota in 2026 earns no federal residential energy credit. Work finished on or before that date can still be claimed.
