Latest program update

The Ohio Department of Development's own "Ohio Home Energy Savings Program" presentation names its Office of Energy and Efficiency as administrator and states Ohio "was allocated nearly $250 million from the U.S. Department of Energy," but that deck lays out a planning timeline ending in a Q4 2024 launch that no current state source confirms took place. As of August 2026 no public HOMES or HEAR application portal could be found on an Ohio state website and the Department's energy-efficiency program page returns a 404 error, so current status could not be verified from a primary source. Separately, Ohio's energy assistance programs moved to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services effective July 1, 2026.

Can I still get a federal tax credit in Ohio?

No. 25C and 25D were both repealed by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Anything installed in Ohio in 2026 earns no federal residential energy credit. Work finished on or before that date can still be claimed.
