Latest program update

Ohio's Department of Development names its Office of Energy and Efficiency as administrator, and the state was allocated nearly $250 million from the US Department of Energy. A planning timeline pointed to a Q4 2024 launch, but as of August 2026 there is no public HOMES or HEAR application portal on an Ohio state website and the Department's energy-efficiency program page is offline. Ohio's energy assistance programs moved to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services on July 1, 2026.

Can I still get a federal tax credit in Ohio?

No. 25C and 25D were both repealed by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Anything installed in Ohio in 2026 earns no federal residential energy credit. Work finished on or before that date can still be claimed.
