Atmos Energy Rebates: The Gas-Side Money Most DFW Homes Never File
Atmos Energy is the gas utility for the Mid-Tex division — Dallas–Fort Worth and a wide band of North and Central Texas — and it runs a straightforward mail-in style rebate program on high-efficiency gas appliances. No contractor network, no pre-approval, no invoice games: buy qualifying equipment, keep your paperwork, file the application. The catches are quieter: a program year that runs July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, funds that are only promised while they last, and documentation rules that disqualify sloppy applications.
Current Atmos Mid-Tex rebate amounts
From Atmos's published Mid-Tex residential schedule:
Builders have their own schedule for new construction, and restaurants can claim $400 per qualifying commercial cooking appliance — but the table above is the homeowner program.
Who qualifies
Current Atmos Energy residential customers in the Mid-Tex division. The application requires two attachments, and both are enforced:
- A copy of a recent Atmos bill matching the name and address on the application
- The retail receipt or contractor's invoice for the equipment
Equipment must be installed to local code, each appliance can claim exactly one rebate, and applications are processed only while program funds remain — the standard Texas rebate race, on a July-to-June clock instead of a calendar year.
The efficiency thresholds are the whole application
Notice how the water-heater table works: a tankless unit at 0.86 UEF earns nothing, 0.87 earns $200, and 0.95 with the ENERGY STAR label earns $300. The model number decides everything before the paperwork starts. This is the mistake pattern we see most on gas rebates: the contractor quotes "a tankless water heater," the homeowner assumes it qualifies, and the spec sheet says otherwise by two hundredths of a point.
That check is what Upgrade Rebates does before you buy: confirm the exact model clears the threshold, pair it with the right furnace tier if you're doing both, and make sure the receipt, invoice and bill copy actually get filed while funds remain.
Stack it: Atmos + the electric side
Atmos only rebates gas appliances — no insulation, no HVAC-side measures. That makes it the natural companion to the electric utility running your side of the metroplex: Oncor's efficiency incentives on HVAC and insulation stack with Atmos's furnace and water-heater money on the same project, because they're different utilities with different budgets. A furnace-plus-tankless project through the right contractors can claim from both directions, and financing where monthly gas-and-electric savings meet the payment closes the loop.

Atmos Energy Rebates questions
Do I need pre-approval or a special contractor?
No — Atmos's residential program is application-based after purchase. Any code-compliant installation works; you'll need the receipt or contractor invoice for the filing.
When does the program year run?
July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, with applications processed only while funds are available.
Can I claim two rebates on one appliance?
No — one rebate per eligible appliance, paid to either the builder or homeowner, never both.
Does the smart thermostat rebate stack with the furnace rebate?
They're separate line items in the same program — a 95% furnace plus an ENERGY STAR thermostat files as $350 + $75.
Is my address in Mid-Tex?
If Atmos delivers your gas in the DFW metroplex or much of North/Central Texas, yes — enter your ZIP and we'll confirm which division and programs apply.
